New Year, New Fun!

Happy New Year from Junior Infants! We have settled back into school after our relaxing Winter Break and are back to having lots of fun every day.

In Aistear we have been learning all about The Clothes shop and Winter. We made a clothes shop with lots of Winter woolies and loved trying them on in the dressing room before we bought them. In Junk art we practiced our cutting and sticking skills by packing a suitcase for a Winter holiday! During construction we made villages, clothes shops, washing machines, wardrobes and a sleigh for our the snow. The Playdough groups loved being fashion designers and designing clothes to sell in the shop. Small world were busy making Winter Wonderland scenes and playing with snow dough! In P.E. we are working on our throwing, catching and rolling skills with Conor and are continuing to practice our Gaelic Football skills with Emma.

Chinese New Year is coming up in February and we have been looking at lots of Chinese New Year traditions. Our favourite tradition was the fireworks. We decided to create some fireworks in art. We used our junk art toilet roll holders to print fireworks on paper. Keep an eye on the classroom windows for the finished product!

In Gaeilge we have been taking care of poor Teidí Beag Álainn who fell and hurt himself. We acted as the dochtúir and used all of our amazing Gaeilge to check Teidí.

It has been very wet and frosty around Grace Park ETNS during January, and Junior Infants have been discussing the best materials to use for waterproof coats and boots. We experimented with different materials and grouped them based on whether they were waterproof or not. Hopefully we will be keeping nice and dry for any upcoming wet morning or Spring showers!
